Job Summary
• Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) are essential in the design and implementation of Medical Teams International’s programs. The primary role of the Data Entry Clerk is to work directly with the Medical Coordinator, MEAL Officer and program staff to ensure collection and data entry of high-quality MEAL information at the field level. The Data Entry Clerk will be responsible for inputting the daily data into the established tracking system and assisting the Medical Coordinator in completing both internal and external reports.

Job Responsibilities
Essential Duties

Monitoring & Evaluation:
• Support program staff in M&E data collection using tools for planning, monitoring, evaluation, accountability and learning in line with Medical Teams policies and standards
• Input the daily data collected by the Mobile Health and Nutrition Teams into the required database so it is available for reports
• Input the weekly data collected by the Health System Strengthening and Community Health teams into the required database so it is available for reports
• Monitor implementation of systems, processes and tools ensuring quality and consistency in M&E collection and reporting
• Provide support in survey sampling and development of electronic data collection
• Complete routine internal and external reports for review by the Medical Coordinator, including 5W reports, Regional Health Bureau reports, and other data needed for monitoring of program and reporting to donors
• Summarize data collected from surveys and project activities
• Precisely compile data to ensure that the collected data is accurate and maintains the integrity of the project
• Assist with beneficiary interviews, focus group discussions, patient satisfaction surveys and quality improvement visits to the project sites as required with the Medical Coordinator
• Aid in compiling project monitoring data into internal and external reports reflecting activity indicators to guide decision making, provide accountability to beneficiaries and stakeholders, share learning, and demonstrate impact

Accountability:

• Ensure data storage and systems for sharing are set up to protect confidentiality of personally identifying beneficiary data and adhere to generally accepted principles for data protection.
• Support safeguarding of program participants and personnel through promoting an environment of awareness and upholding the code of conduct provisions of Medical Teams Protection from Sexual Exploitation & Abuse, and Child & Vulnerable Adult protection policies and sexual harassment policies
• Contribute to the establishment of an effective complaints, accountability, and response mechanism to enhance feedback, trust and confidence with beneficiaries

Learning:

Collaboration and Coordination:

Job Description & Key Responsibilities
• The Data Quality Analyst position is based in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Data Quality Analysts at Laterite play a hands-on role in the implementation of projects by ensuring that relevant quality control measures are in place at all key stages of a project, from research instruments coding to data collection processes to incoming data monitoring. Other responsibilities include contributing to the improvement of the current quality control processes and tools.

Key responsibilities:
Project-based responsibilities

• Codes research instruments and reviews them to ensure internal flow and consistency.
• Creates/adapts project specific monitoring tools.
• Trains audit enumerators on project specific monitoring tools.
• Conducts regular quality checks on incoming data and shares feedback with project lead in the Data Team.
• Cleans and further processes incoming data.
• Reports on the progress of assigned tasks to the Data Quality Associate.

Quality-team based responsibilities
• Contributes to the development of different data processing and monitoring tools. These tools should be efficient, effective and to the maximum extent automated.
• Works closely with other teams within Laterite to ensure quality control at the different stages of a research project cycle.
• Builds efficient internal systems for the management of Laterite’s resources and assets.

Job Requirements
Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Statistics, Engineering or related field

Experience:
• At least 1 year of work experience in a data heavy role

Languages:

• English and Amharic (more Ethiopian languages are a plus)

Must-have:
• Familiarity with statistical analysis and related tools/software in particular Stata.

Nationality:

• Must be Ethiopian

• We are looking for a new Research Analyst to join our team in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Our new colleague will:
• Work on research projects – supporting the design of research instruments and research designs, conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis, drafting sections of reports, and keeping clients updated on progress.
• Contribute to quality assurance tasks – working closely with the field teams to monitor and clean incoming survey data.

Contribute to analysis and reporting – together with other research team members working on a project
As part of our Research Team, you will be able to develop skills and experience in:
• Technical research design, including sampling and impact evaluation methodologies.
• Project management and client communication.
• Data analysis, statistical techniques and coding.
• Report writing: drawing insights from data and presenting them in a client-ready, consultancy quality format.

Profile
• We are looking for a recent graduate with an understanding of data analysis and motivation to work in social and economic research with a focus on Sub-Saharan Africa.

• Master’s degree in Economics, Public Health, Development or related fields with a strong component of quantitative data analysis

• A completed Master’s degree in Economics, Public Health, Development or related fields
• One year of professional experience with similar tasks
• Strong quantitative data analysis skills and proficiency in Stata
• Experience working with ODK-based platforms (e.g., SurveyCTO)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills in English
