Job Summary
• Sheriah & Legal Research and Advisory Attorney is responsible for participating in conducting legal and Sheriah research, reviewing various legal documents for proper legal and Shariah terminologies, and participating in reviewing legal issues for new IFB products and services launched by the Bank. In addition, the role holder is responsible for participating in providing legal advisory service for IFB wing of the Bank and participating in preparation of cases (pleading, defenses, and petition) related to IFB window services as per the law of the land approved policies, procedures, guidelines & SAC fatwas & Islamic financial principles.

Job Requirements
Academic & Professional Qualification
• Bachelor’s Degree in Law from a reputable university.
• Additional certification in law, banking, finance, Interest Free Banking or similar fields is an added advantage.

Experience
• At least Four (4) years relevant experience.

• Case management- ability to create appropriate litigation strategies, prioritize actions, ensure proper use of time and resources etc.

About e-SHE Partnership
In response to the broader strategy and lessons from the COVID-19 shocks, the MoE and the HEIs are scaling up their investments toward digital education. The e-Learning for Strengthening Higher Education (e-SHE) is one of the initiatives to complement these ongoing investments. It is a five-year plan implemented by the FDRE Ministry of Education in partnership with Mastercard Foundation, Arizona State University, and Shayashone PLC. The overall goal is to strengthen the higher education system in Ethiopia through the utilization of digital technology for teaching and learning and to equip youth with the skills needed for employment and entrepreneurship. The specific targets are:
1. Building multimedia centers at five cluster-lead universities that ultimately serve the 50 universities. These studios are anticipated to play a vital role in the production and deployment of high-quality digital content for online and/or blended education.
2. Adopting and rolling out OpenEdx learning management platform and Student Information System (SIS) that supports Ethiopian Universities to deliver online education.
3. Building capacities of 100 system administrators, 35,000 instructors, and 800,000 students in management, content development, and utilization of the envisaged Learning Management System.
4. Supporting institutionalization and scale-up of e-learning for higher education and beyond by (1) designing and enacting appropriate national policies and strategies, and (2) putting the relevant organizational structure in place and embedding it within the institutions for sustainability.
5. Promoting e-learning across universities by creating high-standard model content that enables universities and instructors to benchmark

Specific Roles and Responsibilities
• Responsible for critically reviewing relevant (inter)national and institutional level proclamations, directives, policies, strategies, and guidelines.
• Ensure key legal and regulatory issues related to e-learning are adequately addressed in the policy document
• Responsible for coming up with any other relevant high-level issue that needs policy and strategic level intervention, including required federal government laws and university senate legislation amendments if needed.
• Advise the policy developers and project partners that the new e-learning policy doesn’t contradict the national and sectoral proclamations and possess
• Ensures the envisaged policy will address the academic freedom; rights, and privileges of instructors and students without compromising education quality and institutional mandates.
• Provide legal and advisory services to the consultant and the ministry in developing the documents.
