Association for Human Rights in Ethiopia (AHRE) is a non-governmental, non-partisan, and not-for-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of human rights protection in Ethiopia through research-based investigations and evidence based advocacy at a national level. The organization is registered under the FDRE Authority for Civil Society Organizations through proclamation number 1113/2019 with registration number 5223
Ethiopia is signatory to the UDHR as well as other international human right instruments, in addition to this human rights have been given recognition in the FDRE Constitution. Human rights are inherent to human beings and shall be protected, promoted and fulfilled by the government.
AHRE in partnership with USAID ‘feteh’(justice) project is implementing a project aimed at strengthening the proper implementation of human rights in Ethiopia. In line with this AHRE is planning to provide capacity building training on basic human rights and rights and duties of prisoners as detainees. Equipping prisoners with basic human rights in general and their rights and duties as detainees in particular is vital to support their rehabilitation process. Accordingly, this intervention is designed with a view to build the capacity of the prisoners as well as their rehabilitation and reintegration process. The purpose of detention is to punish as well as rehabilitate the perpetrators and deter others from engaging in criminal acts. With the purpose of serving this aim, there are many perpetrators with in correctional facilities serving their term and some awaiting judgment. Therefore, it is highly important that these prisoners get the necessary rehabilitation so as to enable them to be responsible citizens and one means of doing this is building their capacity through knowledge.
• To increase awareness of prisoners on human rights.
• To provide capacity-building training on human rights for 1000 prisoners in five prison centers.
• Prepare pre and post-test assessment
• Provide training
• Prepare overall report of the training proceeding
Since the training will be conducted in correction facilities the time frame may vary upon convenience of the correction facilities so the implementation period may fluctuate and the consultant and AHRE may have to apply a flexible time frame.

Qualification and Experience Required
• The lead consultant should have a Master’s degree (LLM) or higher in law
• The Consultant/firm must have expertise in similar consultancy service.
• High level of written and spoken English and Amharic languages
