Reports to: ACDC Project Finance Specialist
Employment Type and Duration: Employment will be on contract basis and the contract will be for one year (12 months), with possibility of extension subject to performance.

Background
The Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) would like to hire Accountant who will be responsible for handling the proper processing of the Project’s financial transactions as well as maintenance of its records for its Africa CDC Regional investment Financing Project (ACDCP).
Responsibilities:
The specific duties and responsibilities of the Accountant include the following.
• Process Project financial transactions as per the donor and government rules and regulations.
• Prepare financial documents such Journal Voucher, Payment Vouchers and Petty cash Voucher by Integrated Financial Management Information System (IFMIS) Software.
• Identify discrepancies in ledgers and accounts, tracking them to the source and correcting them.
• Prepare payroll sheet for project staff and release salaries.
• Coordinate and manage payment and billing details of external service providers, and vendors.
• Verify payments and deposits made through the Institute’s account and coordinate with the bank.
• Prepare project Financial reports for management and other parties.
• Prepare cheques for the project payments..
• Provide administrative and clerical support to financial transactions processing. Prepare, type, photocopy, and scan related documentation. File accounting and financial reporting documentation as instructed.
• Compile supporting documentation for payments (advances, Payables, Expenses) to strengthen financial transactions. Communicate with staff, partners, suppliers to follow up on required documents.
• Perform data entry for financial transactions recording, following validation by the next-level Finance staff.
• Do Bank transfers of cash from the bank to pay suppliers or service providers.
• Ensure statutory payments like income tax, withholding tax pension and other payroll related Payables are paid as per the government payment deadlines.
• Carry out any other related tasks as may be required by his supervisor.
Job Requirements: Knowledge, Skills & Experience
• Degree in Accounting and Finance.
• Ten years and above proven work experience as junior accountant or accountant.
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills, with the ability to perform well in a fast-paced environment
• Knowledge of and experience on Integrated Management Information System (IFMIS) is mandatory
• Team spirit
